Ever since Bangabandhu's historic speech on March 7, 1971, a kind of war preparation was going on in the country. Since the morning of March 26, wireless centers across the country have been shut down, causing anxiety in everyone's mind. Suddenly it was reported through foreign radio that Pak forces attacked EPR head quarters and Rajar Bagh police headquarters in Pilkhana, Dhaka last night and killed many policemen. In the afternoon, the Calcutta radio center was broadcasting repeatedly that civil war had started in East Pakistan and heavy shelling by Pakistan Army along with Police EPR and Ansar forces was going on in small and big cities. Along with that, the song "Amar Sonar Bangla" was also being aired from time to time on Kolkata Radio. On the night of March 26, more news came that Bangabandhu was not to be found, perhaps he had been killed or arrested.

This army of 16 people, including Muslim Dafadar, Hamidul Haque (Porababu), Waheed, Ajit, Ramchandra, Ah Sattar Ledu, Mahbubur Rahman Sentu, increased to 30 people within a few days. This force was equipped with some (three not three) rifles and some indigenous guns obtained from Gopalpur Sugar Mill and Sarda PTC.

At that time Captain Ghiyas was in charge of freedom fighters to liberate Charghat and Rajshahi city, along with him was Captain Rashid and Naib Subedar Sirajuddin Lashkar of Mirganj EPR Platoon Headquarters. Lalpur Mukti Bahini became stronger with their cooperation and arms. Along with that, only thousands of freedom mad people joined this army with sticks, sticks, bows and arrows.
